Emotions runneth over...

Over the past couple of days, I have had the distinct pleasure of dining with folks who have a heart for trauma work in the broken and rebel-filled countryside of Burundi. When talks turn to the devastating things these people suffer, you can't help but feel the sting as well.

But today I sit in a used bathing suit bought in the markets of Bujumbura and Im listening to the waves of Lake Tanganyika and I contemplate all of the potential this region of the world has. People often ask us why we do this: what motivates us to this sort of soul-wrenching, heartbreaking work? The answer is simple...change can be had. This part of the world does not have to live according to the bad hand poverty has dealt them. There is relief from the fighting, hunger and need. And its not naive to think it can happen in our lifetime. The change just starts with one village, one orphanage, one African with heart set on fire and change can happen. Change is happening. We can either be a part of it or we can watch it happen. As for me, I side with those that impassion themselves to the cause. Today is not overwhelmed by a feeling of heartache and sadness for the stories we have heard. Today has been emboldened with a fresh spirit to fight.

Fight with us.

Good thing you're feisty and have a lot of fight in you. I can't imagine you being on the sidelines. You were made for this! Love keeping up a bit with all that eXile is doing via the blog. Praying for your journey and for strength!

Love you all much!

Asante Sana! :)
